Top Ten Dinner

I hope you have seen the post by Erik Marcus at Vegan.com for his Top Ten Recipes of 2008. For our Sunday dinner I prepared 4½ of them. It goes without saying that they are all incredibly delicious, so I will let the pictures speak for themselves.

Nearly Instant Thai Coconut Corn Soup
Nava Atlas – Vegan Express

Chickpea Curry
Hema Parekh – The Asian Vegan Kitchen

Indonesian Coconut Rice
Robin Robertson – Vegan Fire & Spice

Plated with mixed steamed veggies with Balsamic Maple Sauce
Dreena Burton – Eat Drink & Be Vegan

Banana Chocolate Chip Bread Pudding
Isa Chandra Moskowitz and Terry Hope Romero – Veganomicon

The soup is dreamy, creamy, and corny.

The chickpeas are spicy and amazing. (Amanda, you will LOVE these!)

The coconut rice is easy to make and delicious. Dreena’s sauce over the veggies was the perfect sweet complement to our spicy dishes.

The bread pudding is also super easy to make and so tasty. I served it with a peanut sauce.

I read that list of Top 10 recipes - great mix of foods and cooks/bakers on there! I LOVE how you tried a lot of the recipes - especially the bread pudding (which I have had my eye on - yum!)

Thanks for coming and visiting my site! All your food looks amazing :)
What gluten-free bread did you use in the bread pudding? I'm always looking for that amazing loaf of gluten-free, vegan bread. I know it has to be out there somewhere!

Hehe your mom sounds a lot like my own mom. I asked her how many puddings I should order (I was thinking of ordering 30), and she said, "You may never see them again, so I'd order 200!"

Everything looks so yummy, I've earmarked a few of the recipes (all except the bread pudding - never been a huge fan of bread pudding).

By the way, I agree with Chase. I love saucy foods.

Must have been hard to choose just 10. The only one I've made is the Nearly Instant Soup--and I can attest to its brilliance!

Your versions look professional and mouth-watering, as always.

What a great looking meal. You must be an amazing multi-tasker to handle 4 1/2 recipes for one meal. One recipe is enough to flummox me for over an hour so I always keep everything else simple.

I want to try that banana bread pudding soooo badly now! I *love* how you plated it!

You know, you take some great pictures. I'm gonna have to jump on the band wagon and say 'My, that bread pudding looks amazing!'

Everything definitely looks like top 10 material, I would say. :)

On a different note, I am sorry I've been so out of the loop lately. I completely lost touch with all these awesome blogs due to studio recording and moving to a new department at my job. But I just wanted to say that I am deeply sorry to hear about your father. I know how hard it is. I lost my mother unexpectedly a year ago and it's definitely a tough time. If you ever need anything, I am here. ::hugs::

I can't believe you made these all for one meal! I bow down at your awesomeness. And since they're all "Top 10" recipes, it must have been one amazing meal.

And a dessert peanut sauce?! Oh wow, that sounds like my kind of thing! I need to try the bread pudding recipe, though, with or without peanut sauce. Mmm!

Wow very nice food pictures. Makes me hungry for some vegetables -that can never be a bad thing.

I just started blogging about my diet (only on day 4) to help myself feel accountable. I am not too used to eating vegetables as the main course -but this site is helping.

Thanks for the inspirations!! Very creative and nice work.
